This May in the UK, the new moon occurs Tuesday 15th May at 12.57 pm. The new moon cycle begins on the 14th of May and will last until the 17th, so now is the time for setting intentions with the New Moon.
For those of you who don’t know, new moons represent the beginning of a cycle and the full moon represents the end, culminating in a release or clearing of something. Because the new moon is the first of the cycles of the moon, it makes for the perfect phase for setting new beginnings, new wishes, goals, hopes and things that you wish to achieve.
The new moon phase repeats every 29 1/2 days, making way for a fantastic reason to create a monthly intention setting ritual.
How Setting intentions with the New Moon works
Knowing how to ask for what you want is an integral part of the process. You need to be as clear and specific as possible. Feel free to focus on up to 10 things for the coming month, but I would avoid any more than that. Writing your desires/wishes/goals down makes the process more sacred. Something very special happens when you put pen to paper, which is key in the intention-setting process. Using a special notebook, or paper can help make the process more sacred to you.
Once you have written your list, I would advise you spend at least 10 -15 minutes meditating on that list. Making a point of asking the universe, or even better, thanking the universe for what is in your list as if it was already here and present in your life. That is a very powerful practice. By allowing yourself to ‘feel’ the excitement and joy of how you would feel if what you desire were already manifest is an instrumental part of manifesting and some would say key.
You may wish to create a sacred space in your home such as a bookshelf, a table, or a corner of a room and fill it with crystals, trinkets, sage, or anything else inspiring and motivating for you.
Some people like to burn their wishes after the new cycle has passed to release them to the universe and if that suits you, go ahead and do just that, however, come to the full moon cycle, you may wish to be able to read the paper to see what has transpired. So perhaps placing the paper you have written on and leaving it surrounded by crystals and sage may be a nice way to honour your desires.
Remember to keep it simple, to the point, and have fun! This is a beautiful time to embrace your creativity and creating the life you want.
